Although I am eighty years old this week, the Lord has been guiding me to write Christian drama scripts. Mostly short monologues with a few two-actor sketches.
I’ve always like acting and before I retired, I acted in many pantomimes, musicals and plays. Since that time, however, I wanted to act in Christian drama, and the good Lord has led me to write FREE scripts to give away to anyone who would like to use them.
I find this very exciting and despite my small beginnings have already supplied two churches with my dramas. Some of my scripts can be seen at Dramatix.
Here are a some of the titles:
- The Centurion Cornelius
- The Easter Centurion
- The Capernaum Centurion,
- The Pigman (with two actors)
- Moses and the Burning Bush (also with two actors)
- The Old Shepherd
They are quite short and very basic.
My work proves that Christians are never too old to start something fresh for the kingdom.
If you are thinking of trying your hand at writing, you may like to start with your favourite Bible story and make it personal to a person who was living at that time. I normally wait for the Lord to give me an idea and try not to write something that I think is okay. Proverbs 3:5-7 (ESV) says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” He certainly does that for me.
I would be very grateful for your prayers to get my scripts into churches to encourage and edify Christians and build them in the Lord.
